ARTICLE I NAME

The name of this organization shall be the Lancaster Historical Society. It continues the work of the Lancaster Historical Workshop, organized April 17, 1961, and reorganized April 23, 1989.

ARTICLE II PURPOSE

The purpose of the Society shall be: to develop appreciation among the townspeople of our historical heritage in the Town of Lancaster by sponsoring programs about that heritage; to encourage the preservation of historic sites and records of historic value for the Town; and to encourage historical research about the Town.

The Society shall operate solely as a non-profit educational organization, and shall comply with all federal and state laws pertaining thereto.

ARTICLE III MEMBERSHIP

Membership in this organization shall be open to any persons who are in sympathy with the purposes of the Society and who fulfill their payment of annual dues.

ARTICLE IV MEETINGS

Section 1. The annual meeting of the Society shall be held on the afternoon or evening of the fourth Sunday of April at a time and place determined by the Executive Committee, or at such other time as the Society may determine, for the purpose of electing officers, determining the annual dues, and to conduct such other business as may be appropriate. Section 2. Other regular meetings may be called by the Executive Committee or by petition of ten members.

Section 3. Notice of all meetings shall be given to all members in good standing at least thirty (30) days prior to the meeting.

Section 4. A quorum for the transaction of business at any regular meeting shall consist of the members who are present. A quorum for the transaction of business at the annual meeting shall consist of one third of the membership in good standing.
